The basic satellite multi-switch has a three-port input and either four or eight ports out.
The 2x8 multi-switches are designed to work with an 18-inch round satellite dish antenna with a dual-feed LNBF pointed at a single orbiting satellite. (e.g. DirecTV Satellite at 101° W).
The two outside ports are connected to the satellite dish antenna and the third (centermost) port incorporates signals from either an off-air antenna or cable TV feed if needed for local channels.
