The fourth layer of the OSI network reference model is the transport layer. The transport layer is responsible for end-to-end communication, that is, coordinated communication between the network source and the target system.
NT-IN111D is Industrial Fast Ethernet POE switch equipped with one 10/100M UTP port and low-speed data. It provides one 10/100Base-T ports, 3 low-speed data ports and one 100Bse-FX port.
In the IP protocol stack, this is the protocol layer where TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) and UDP (User Datagram Protocol) are located. TCP and UDP contain port numbers, which can uniquely distinguish which application protocols each packet contains (such as HTTP, FTP, telnet, etc.).
With strictly industrial design, it is fundamental guarantee for stability and practicability to flexible extends transmitting distance of the Ethernet and low speed data in the extreme industrial environment.
The additional information provided by the TCP / UDP port number can be used by the network switch. The four-layer switch uses this information to distinguish the data in the packet, which is the basis of the fourth-layer exchange
