Zirocnia Ceramics:

Zirconium hydroxide is an amphoteric hydroxide which is insoluble in water and slightly alkaline. Non-toxic, tasteless, insoluble or slightly soluble in water, insoluble in alcohol, alkali and ammonium salt solutions. Soluble in mineral acids such as hydrochloric acid. It decomposes into zirconium dioxide and water at 500 °C. Due to its amphoteric nature, it can react with acids and bases. A crystalline positive zirconate is formed with a strong base upon melting. The zirconium hydroxide solution obtained by the action of the zirconium salt aqueous solution and the caustic soda (or aqueous ammonia) solution is referred to as α-type zirconium acid, and is soluble in the dilute acid. The precipitated under heating conditions is called β-type zirconic acid and is hardly soluble in water and acid. Used in the manufacture of other zirconium compounds, pigments, dyes, glass, and the like. It is mainly used in the preparation of zirconium and zirconium compounds, as well as fillers, catalysts, deodorants and pigments in plastics, rubber, ion exchange resins and other industries. Used as an analytical reagent, also used in the preparation of chromium compounds and pigment preparation; used as an intermediate in other zirconium products.
