Laser cutting is one of the most popular ways of metal processing, its principle is to use the focused high power density laser beam irradiation of the workpiece so that the irradiated material quickly melts, vapors, ablation or reaches the ignition point, at the same time with the coaxial high-speed airflow and light beam blowing molten material, so as to achieve the cutting of metal workpiece.
According to the thermal and physical characteristics of processing materials and auxiliary gas characteristics, laser cutting can be divided into four types, respectively, are laser vaporization cutting, laser melting cutting, laser oxygen cutting, and laser-controlled fracture.
A laser vaporization cutting
With the use of a high-energy high density laser beam heating workpiece, the cutting material temperature rises rapidly, in a short time to reach the boiling point of the material, skipping the melting step directly began to vaporize, forming steam. At the same time as the steam is expelled, a cut is made in the cutting material. It is mainly used for cutting very thin metal materials and non-metallic materials such as paper, cloth, wood, plastic, and rubber. It has the advantage of high cutting quality and small material loss.
Two, laser melting cutting
With laser heating metal materials and making it melt, blow out through the nozzle with beam coaxial inert gases, such as nitrogen, rely on the strong pressure of the gas to make molten liquid metal, the advantage of using laser fusion cutting is cutting edge smooth, generally without secondary processing, laser energy demand is higher, the gas pressure is bigger. Suitable for stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, and alloy metal cutting.
Three, laser oxygen cutting
The laser oxygen cutting principle is similar to oxygen-acetylene cutting. It is the use of laser as a preheating heat source, with oxygen and other active gas as cutting gas. On the one hand, the ejected gas reacts with the cutting metal, releasing a lot of oxidation heat; On the other hand, the molten oxides and melts are blown out of the reaction zone, forming a notch in the metal. Fast cutting speed, mainly suitable for cutting carbon steel metal materials.
Four, laser-controlled fracture
Laser-controlled fracture is the use of the steep temperature distribution generated by grooving with a small laser power to generate local thermal stress in the brittle material, causing the material to break along the groove. High power will cause the workpiece surface to melt, damaging the cutting edge. It is mainly suitable for cutting brittle materials such as silicon wafers and glass.
